ITALIAN TEXTILE MACHINES GET READY FOR ITMA 2007 IN MUNICH

The next international exhibition of textile machinery, which will take place in Munich from 13 to 20 September 2007, will see the attendance of over 350 Italian companies, which fact is once more evidence of the leadership of the Italian production in this specific sector.

There are six months to the opening of ITMA 2007 world exhibition, which will take place in Munich from 13 to 20 September, and the Italian textile machinery industry is preparing in the best way its attendance to this event.

In fact ITMA is traditionally the showcase in which the manufacturers of this sector have the opportunity to present technological innovations. A good number of Italian companies will get to this appointment with a largely updated production supply, in order to meet the demands of the international visitors. The number of the Italian companies attending ITMA is considerable, also in this German edition of the exhibition. Exhibitors coming from Italy will be about 355 (as at March 2007), that is 13% more than in previous edition held in Birmingham in 2003.

Moreover the Munich edition is taking place at a time which is expected to confirm the recovery of the whole textile machinery sector worldwide, and in particular of the Italian sector. In fact the textile machinery industry closed the year 2006 with quite positive results: the production showed an increase of 5% and reached 2,680 million euro; the exports, which represent 78% of the total turnover, increased by 4% and reached in terms of value almost 2,100 million euro. The year 2006 recorded also a recovery of the Italian domestic market, where the demand for textile machines exceeded 1,150 million Euros (+4% over 2005), which reflects a still vital market, ready to receive the new technological proposals.

As declared by Paolo Banfi, President of ACIMIT (the Association of Italian Textile Machine Manufacturers), “next ITMA in Munich will offer the opportunity to display the Italian machine sector with its highly competitive production, which suceeded in maintaining its leadership worldwide, notwithstanding the difficult economic conjuncture, thanks to its appreciated peculiarities such as quality, creativity, reliability, and to the high level of the offered technology”.

These features of the Italian textile machine sector are to the fore in the slogan used in the promotion campaign which ACIMIT launched recently in co-operation with the Italian Institute for Foreign Trade and the International Trade Ministry with the publication of an advertising page on a selection of the major magazines of the sector.

The promotional activity for ITMA 2007 comprises also a series of articles describing the absolute excellence of the Italian technology within the various sections of textile processing (spinning, weaving, knitting, finishing, technical textiles and nonwovens); moreover, during the exhibition posters were exposed in situ, while the ACIMIT totem, the distinctive mark of the Made in Italy in textile machinery industry, will be displayed to great effect inside the booths of the ACIMIT member companies.

“Our sector – Banfi points out – underwent in last years a deep transformation, but could find inside itself the motivations and the resources from which to draw the strength for resuming a winning course. It is an irrefutable fact that the textile machinery industry, with a favourable balance of trade amounting to Euros 1,520 million, is the feather in the cap of the instrumental mechanics of our Country and is at the same time a sector of strategic importance for the future of our economy”.

ACIMIT will be present at ITMA 2007 to supply the maximum support to the exhibiting Italian companies and to promote the Italian textile machines with the expected solid crowd of visitors.
